Temple History:
The history of the temple begins with Mother Karumari
Tripura Sundari who was in the form of a trident under an Ilandhai tree. With efforts of devotee Shakti Sundaresan and
others in the place, the temple was built and idols were installed as per
religious procedures. Mother Tripura
Sundari appears in Her sitting posture with one leg bent and the other placed
on the ground. She is holding trident
and rattle drum (udukkai) in the upper two hands while the lower two hands show
the Abhaya Mudra – promising protection to devotees. A five hooded serpent is behind Mother as an
umbrella.
